What Are the Latest Twin Nursery Trends?
To help you prepare a beautiful twins room, we scoured the hottest trends in twin nurseries. Below is the list of the latest twin baby room trends just for you!
Twin Baby Room Trend 1: Going Natural
Whether it’s a natural color pallet or natural decor, coming back to nature is a big trend in baby nurseries. Think tans, greens, and greys – all great nursery colors for boy/girl twins. Picture greenery (either in print or IRL), neutral rainbows, and twinkling stars. The sky is the limit!
Twin Baby Room Trend 2: Wall Instillations
Painted wall instillations with wooden accents have been rising in popularity over the last year and have been popping up in twin nursery ideas. Whether a neutral color (like cream) or a deep color (like navy), these can bring texture and interest into a baby’s room. Luckily, nursery colors for boy/girl twins has never been more flexible. Check out the photos below to see a beautiful navy half accent wall in their twins’ room!
Twin Baby Room Trend 3: Making Every Inch Count
Whether you’re in a small condo or sprawling home, maximizing space in twins’ rooms is important. Lately, we’re seeing more tall storage systems, maximization of closet space, and using vertical space effectively. You don’t need to be searching for twin nursery ideas for small rooms to take advantage of this trend!
Twin Baby Room Trend 4: Double Duty Pieces
Let’s get real – baby gear isn’t cheap, and you’re often buying double baby gear for twins. Finding items that can be used as your twins grow is the latest trend in twin baby gear. Mini Cribs that convert into twin beds, dressers that convert into changing pads, ottomans that convert into baby toy storage, leather diaper bags that can be used as laptop cases – the trend is only rising.
Twin Baby Room Trend 5: Mixing Function & Form
No longer do people buy twin baby décor items only for décor – they have to have a function as well. Buying things that just look pretty on a shelf, but hold no other purpose, are on their way out. Today’s twin parents want products that actually make their twins lives better (and make twin parents lives easier).

When Should You Set Up the Nursery for Twins?
When setting up twins rooms, you can really start anytime! Though because twins usually arrive earlier than singletons, waiting until the end of the 3rd trimester is usually not the best idea. The average duration of a twin pregnancy is 36 weeks, but twins have definitely been known to arrive earlier.
Having your twin baby shower in the middle of the 2nd trimester is a good idea. This allows you to have everything in place by the beginning of the 3rd trimester – usually a pretty safe bet.

What’s the Best Gear for Twin Nurseries?
Of course there’s a ton of gear for twin nurseries on the market, but what do you really need for twins? Actually – very little. We live in a downtown condo with three young kids, and I can tell you that very little are actual must-haves. All the other twin nursery pieces are just to make your life a little easier. Here are the essential twin nursery pieces you’ll need when setting up a twin nursery.
Two Cribs (or Two Mini Cribs)
Can twins share a crib? Technically, yes, up until a point. But the safest place for babies to sleep is in a crib, alone, with nothing else in it. After about four months the twins will start rolling over and need their own crib anyway. So, instead of having to go through a transition from sharing a crib to being in one solo, two cribs from day one was my tactic.
A Place to Feed
As twins will wake up in the middle of the night to feed (sometimes way more often than you want), it’s really helpful to have a pace to feed them in their nursery. Given we are in a condo, we actually had our spare bed in the twins’ room, so could feed lying down. A couch could also work, or a double wide chair, like the wide rocking chair seen in the photos below. Most twin moms find single chairs too small to feed two, but worth trying out if you’re tight on space.
Vertical Storage (be sure it’s safe)
You need more stuff for twins. You don’t need double everything for twins, but there’s no way to get by with as little as you would have with a singleton. That’s why taking advantage of vertical space is so valuable.
Think of cube shelves that stack tall, floor to ceiling bookshelves, even hanging baskets. A word to the wise though – be sure everything is safe and safely installed.

Twin Nursery Photos
We asked, and our Twin Winning Community delivered! Here are photos from real twin moms over the last year that can spark twin nursery ideas for you. Be sure to check them out on insta – our twin mom community is truly the best!
Thinking About Function
There’s lots I love about the above twin nursery. First off, the rug brings a great warmth and texture to the space. The cribs are well spaced out and, along with the windows, create a beautiful symmetry.
Finally, the oversized chair and ottoman creates a great place to feed and relax during those middle-of-the-night feedings, and the side table is great to place a bottle or phone. As a bonus, notice how the baby monitor has been wall mounted. This mama knew what she was doing!
Searching for twin baby girl nursery ideas? This feminine twin girls’ room above boasts a classy, elegant vibe.
The mini chandelier, the wall art, the puffed ottoman and fresh flowers all add a touch of glamour to their nursery.
The cribs are separated, yet close enough together that their twin girls can chat and play as they grow into toddlers.
Maximizing a Small Twin Nursery
The above is a great example of how you can maximize a small twin nursery and is a great example of a twin baby boys room, that could just as easily be a twin baby girls room with a few small shifts.
The room only really fits two cribs and a dresser – but when you think about it, that’s all you really need when you’re setting up twins room.
Adding a few touches of a rug, curtains, and wall-mounted shelves, this twins room shows that you don’t need lots of space to have a great design.
Notice anything familiar about the photo above? It’s from the same family as the previous photo!
When they moved to a bigger place, their twin nursery layout changed, but the furniture came with them. It’s a great example of flexing into the space and growing into spaces as your twins grow.
You’ll still see the same cribs, rug, curtains, and accessories, yet with the addition of the rocking chair, tent, and toys, it’s turned into a play space for their twins. Cheers to fewer toys taking over the living room!
This twin nursery above focuses on a twinkle twinkle little star theme. They make good use of their twin nursery furniture, with matching twin cribs, nightstand, and rocking chair – all pieces that can be used in years to come, with the cribs converting into twin beds.
It was perfect for when mom and dad (and pup!) brought their twins home below. If you can see the pink and blue blankets, you’ll see this is a great nursery idea for boy girl twins.
Here’s a beautiful cream and navy twins room that is beautifully designed for girl boy twins. Look at the adorable twin headbands and bows hanging to the side!
This is a prime reminder that twin room ideas for boy/girl twins don’t need to conform to traditional gender colors. The navy fits in great here, adding a touch of class and elegance.
Gender Neutral Twin Nursery
Another important thing to consider: “twin baby furniture” doesn’t always need to be specifically made for twins. In fact, most of your things won’t be!
One exception that is really valuable though is having an extra-wide rocking chair for twins. If you want to feed two babies at once (or even hold two babies at once), fitting the three of you into a regular rocking chair will be tight.
Check out this double rocker below – perfect for feeding twins in the middle of the night in a cozy position. Efficiency is the name of the game, my friends!
