Week 21 Twin Pregnancy Experience: Giving Into Nesting
I gave into nesting this week and finally did a family trip to a furniture store. With twins on their way, a toddler in tow, and living in a downtown condo, we need to get strategic about storage. Our week 21 twin pregnancy experience is all about trying to keep our downtown life alive when becoming a family of five. Luckily I’ve factored that in when compiling my ultimate minimalist twin baby registry!
I love living downtown. Being able to hit up a coffee house, grocery store, doctor’s office and mom & baby yoga class all within a four block radius is awesome. That’s why when we found out we were having twins, we started brainstorming how to make it work.
Step one: focus on vertical living. Try to pick furniture that uses little floor space, yet sits tall. Insert a new 5×5 cube shelf. In addition to using it to store baby equipment, its the main purpose will be for baby and toddler clothing. Think about it people. This is a way to never have to fold baby clothes again. I can’t bold that enough. No more hours spent on Marie Kondo folding. You simply throw pjs in the pj bin, pants in the pants bin, etc. and you’re done! No more folding. I have to say, this is one of the best baby hacks I’ve found yet.
Symptom wise, I’ve been having more Braxton Hicks contractions, around 15/day. They’re different than my last pregnancy, in that they kind of hurt this time. Which of course is a bit scary. But it’s very low on the pain scale, they’re fairly infrequent, and they don’t come close together at regular intervals. While it feels like so much time has passed in this pregnancy, and the coming months will fly by, in actuality there are still many weeks to go before these babies are out of the danger zone for delivering early. To help combat them, I’m aiming to up my water intake, work from home one day a week, and stop lifting from here on out. Mama’s got you, little ones.
Symptoms
Symptoms: Around 15 Braxton Hicks contractions a week, some with cramps. The insomnia seems to have faded (yay!) even despite the once a night trip to the rest room. There’s also a definite sense of “oof!” every time I roll over in bed.
Babies are each the size of: Bananas. So big already!
Belly size in singleton weeks: 27 weeks
