Week 17 Twin Pregnancy Journey: Hawaii for the babymoon!
Aloha from Hawaii! What an awesome, rejuvenating place this is. I couldn’t picture a better place to be for our week 17 twin pregnancy journey, than Hawaii. Walking off of the plane, the scent of hibiscus danced in the air towards us. And stepping onto the lava stones of the open air terminal, I’m not shy to admit that a few tears escaped. I feel such a special connection to this place. So much so, that we named our first child after the Hawaiian word for the sea.
This is the first time I can remember ever being on vacation, where I’ve had no self consciousness over my belly. Zero. Even when my belly was relatively flat, every curve was on my mind. How refreshing it is to have zero worries about your figure! My biggest body related concern is ensuring I eat enough during the day. Isn’t that every girl’s dream?
Speaking of, we hit up an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, and the inner preggo in me emerged. After a custom omelette, fresh fruit plate, 2 chocolate croissants, waffle with berries, scrambled eggs, close to a dozen strips of bacon, decaf coffee and fresh Hawaiian juices – it didn’t stand a chance.
It has been such a special time here. And one of the reasons why – we found out the genders! On sunny Hapuna Beach at 10am, we opened the letter to find out we are expecting a GIRL and a BOY. How amazing! It was exactly what we were hoping for – a sister for Kai, and our only son. We couldn’t be happier. The moment on the sunny beach, with all 3 of us…it was a moment I’ll remember forever.

Symptoms: Another huge, sharp kick from a baby, causing me to yelp. I keep reminding myself that it means there are healthy babies in there, and no cause for concern. There’s a slightly increasing appetite. And certainly a growing belly (it’s becoming pretty obvious).
Babies are each the size of: Turnips. Grow, babies, grow!
