Week 16 Twin Pregnancy Journey: Off to Sunny Hawaii!
We’re off to sunny Hawaii this week! The sun, the surf, the Aloha spirit – I feel a special connection to that place. We’re taking our daughter just before she turns 2 (still flying for free!). I I hope she ends up having the same connection to the lands there that we do. My week 16 twin pregnancy journey includes a lot of day dreaming of palm trees, ocean waves, and virgin pina coladas.
On the health front, low blood pressure seems to be popping up in the mornings, a common side effect of pregnancy. At a regular doctor’s appointment, I got so close to passing out that she made me lie down and eat a granola bar before leaving. I’m learning a BIG breakfast is required before starting the day – a protein bar is no longer sufficient. And given I have the biggest appetite in the morning lately (the complete opposite of pre-pregnant Danielle), I might need to get used to scrambling some eggs each morning.
I also felt the first big jab from the babies this week. What an experience! I had barely felt any belly fluttering to date, then a jab so prominent that I dropped what I was holding. It wasn’t painful – just shocking! I almost worried something was horribly wrong, until I realized it was likely just a baby rolling over in there. It truly is such an odd sensation, something inside your body pushing outwards against your stomach. But it means that there are strong little avocados in there, so it fills me with joy.
My Week 16 Twin Pregnancy Symptoms
Twin Pregnancy Symptoms: Braxton Hicks contractions ramped up this week, coupled with the normal fear that it’s too soon to be having them. I remind myself that these happened early in our first pregnancy too, so it’s not necessarily cause for concern.
Of course it’s normal to worry whenever you have a contraction, but it’s just something to monitor to ensure they don’t become regular. Also experiencing some tiredness and heaviness, but vacation will likely help alleviate a lot of that stress. Ahhh, daily naps, you’re calling my name!
Babies are each the size of: Avocados
Belly size in singleton weeks: 22 weeks
